KeymasterBecoming an Amazon Affiliate (Associate) is a smart business model, especially for beginners. Once you are approved, you can typically promote multiple product lines very quickly, in multiple ways.
Why is this a smart business model?
Several reasons.
First – Credibility. People already know, like and trust Amazon.
Second – Traffic. It gets more traffic (visitors) than any other ecommerce property in the US.
Third – Product Variety. You can find products in nearly any niche. And if someone visits Amazon because they click on a link for a product you promote – and then buys OTHER items – you earn commissions on those too.
You can tap into that traffic and credibility without spending the time and money to earn it (by setting up your own e-commerce site.)
The biggest downside to promoting Amazon products is that their commissions aren’t high.
Here are the primary commission rates as of May 2022.
So you need to promote a lot of products, promote more expensive products on which you’ll earn more or both. How to Apply to Become an Amazon Associate
1) Create a website or blog.
2) Sign up here: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/
3) Enter account info.
4) Enter your website address (you may enter other sources too, like YouTube channel, but it is not necessary.)
5) Enter a preferred store ID (keep it short!)
6) Tell Amazon how you will drive traffic to your site
7) Choose how you’ll want to be paid
8) Create Amazon affiliate links using the store ID they will give you
9) Add those links to your site/blog.
10) Start selling! (You need to sell at least 1 product in 180 days or your account will be closed. Doesn’t matter what site your sale(s) come from.)
Here is a very good article that explains the process in more detail.
CREATING A WEBSITE OR BLOG:
Before you apply to become an Associate, you need a website or blog to show Amazon. Before they permit you to represent their products, they need proof that you will do so in a professional way.
Here are two example websites that could be used to earn Amazon Associate approval:
https://www.bidettoiletseatguide.com/ – has articles and reviews for products in this niche.
https://backyardbirding.mystrikingly.com/ – more of a hobby blog, with products mentioned in posts related to the hobby.
YIVE offers several ways to promote products as an Amazon Associate, once you are approved.
- You can use YIVERanker to build backlinks to your Amazon Affiliate sites, to get them more traffic.
- You can use YIVEVideo to create videos based on Amazon product reviews.
